Live lessons using Microsoft Teams

At Heartlands Academy, we believe that true education is about an active process in which our students take ownership of their own learning, progress and success. We believe passionately that no student should be left behind because they have to self-isolate or they are unable to attend the academy for any other reason.

To this end, we are ensuring that all students who are self-isolating or quarantining are able to access exactly the same curriculum as the students who are physically present in the academy. Students are expected to log in to Microsoft Teams and follow their timetable as normal from home, attend every lesson throughout the day, and complete all work including any assessment or homework that needs to be sent back to their subject teacher.

The headteacher and staff at Heartlands Academy make sure every day that this process is implemented through support and ongoing communication with parents and carers to ensure that our students are not disadvantaged or falling behind with their education and are learning the full curriculum. All students, in every year group, have been trained during their computing lessons or during tutor time to access live lessons, so that they are well prepared to access the live lessons delivered by their subject teachers if they need to self-isolate.
